Music Makes Memories Charity Concert for Dementia Support
My Special Event is presenting a Charity Concert in aid of Dementia Support. Music Makes Memories is an evening full of fun and amazing talent.
Music Makes Memories is on Friday 24th March 2023 and will be held at a wonderful local venue who have fully backed and supported this event. Newtown Sports & Social Club is based in Bognor Regis and the manager Hayley has been fully behind this event and is excited to host this too.
Why Dementia Support at Sage House?
Dementia Support which is based at Sage House is a place that offers support and guidance to those with Dementia or Alzheimers and their families. Dementia Support was opened in 2014 and the Dementia hub which is known as Sage House was opened in 2018 by HRH Princess of Wessex and has gone from strength to strength with the amazing work they do for the community and its residents.
What do they do?
Daisy’s Cafe
There are lots on offer at Sage House for everyone and they are open Monday to Friday with a wide range of activities and services. Daisys is their cafe and the central meeting point of the hub with chatter tables available and also marvellous cake and coffee. I personally have been there several times and it is such a pleasant and warm and inviting place to meet. They offer hot and cold food between 8.45 am and 4 pm. On odd occasions, the cafe may be shut for special events and occasions.
Wayfinders
Wayfinders are essential to Dementia Support and they offer tremendous support to families who need it to cope with some of the difficult times and decisions they have to make with their loved ones and their condition. From a personal point of view, Wayfinders have been fantastic with my family and helping with difficult situations we have faced and we are always looking for ways to say thank you for the wonderful work they do.
Personal Care, Respite Daybreaks, Hairdressing and other services
Dementia Support offers a wide range of other services to help everyone who has someone with Dementia and Alzheimers and they are not busy. There is a fully functional hair salon and beauty room as well as counsellors and professionals on site. Activities are run daily for those with the condition to attend and enjoy and also offer respite to those who have to care for loved ones with this incurable condition.
Music Makes Memories is one BIG THANK YOU
Zoe Pniewski, Owner of My Special Event alongside her mother Yvonne came up with the idea of saying thank you to Dementia Support for all their support by organising and hosting a charity concert. Music Makes Memories was born last year and the planning began to make this the best concert it could possibly be and also raise as much money and awareness as possible for this amazing charity.
The idea was to have several acts come along and perform for an audience offering a cabaret-style feel to the evening and that is definitely going to be achieved by the variety of acts they have to offer.
My Special Event has carried out various charity events like this in the past and has had success with them so hopefully, this event will be no different.
Some Music for everyone’s taste
Music Makes Memories promises to offer a wide range of music genres for this event. We have classic pieces of Musical masterpieces from West End and Broadway Musicals and Movies provided by Generations. This Mother and Daughter act has performed numbers off and on stage for over 20 years and in various places in Britain and beyond.
A pick n mix of Vintage, Swing and Rock ‘n’ Roll from local duo Vintage Candy Singing Duo who has performed in various venues including local care homes and Goodwood Festivals.
One woman and her Guitar in the form of local artist Cheryl Craven who herself is no stranger to the stage. Cheryl has performed in various festivals locally and is well-known on the performance circuit.
Local Mum Sharon Wicks is our acoustic act offering a mixture of soft folk covers with a modern feel to them. Armed with her Ukulele and with Cheryl for accompaniment, Sharon will be on hand to offer something a little different for audiences to enjoy.
Lots to offer on the night
As well as fantastic music we have an amazing raffle with 40 wonderfully donated prizes on offer from days out to signed goodies from celebrities to hampers and bubbly. Lots of local businesses, despite the cost of living crisis, have got on board and have donated some wonderful prizes for people to win and hopefully help us to raise more and more for the charity.
