My Special Event is one of the Co-Hosts of Vows & Views Wedding Fairs
Visiting a wedding fair can be overwhelming for some couples. Speaking to many people who are essentially strangers can be nerve-wracking. However, don’t worry as we have been in your shoes.
At Vows & Views Wedding Fairs, as two brides who planned our own weddings, we have visited many wedding fairs so know what to expect and how to get the best experience out of them.
Zoe Pniewski of My Special Event is a professional Wedding, Events, and Party Planner who has visited many fairs and spoken to countless suppliers for many years. Sometimes it can be easy, and sometimes it’s not. Preparing for your visit is the best way to go, so you know what to expect and have a rough idea of what to ask.
Here is our guide to feeling relaxed and prepared at one of our wedding fairs.
Planning Before Panic:
Make a plan for what you want to achieve from visiting the wedding fair. If possible, see what suppliers will be exhibiting before you go and see if any of them are a “must” as you need that particular information to plan for your day.
Vows & Views Wedding Fairs will also advertise the exhibitors they have on board before their event, either on their website http://www.vowsandviewsweddingfairs.co.uk or via their social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.
Ask a Supplier:
Ensure that when you come to the wedding fair, you ask lots of questions. Write down a list of the sort of things you wish to ask and which suppliers if possible.
Remember that no question is a silly or inappropriate one; we have heard them all before. Brides and grooms come in all varieties – some know exactly what they want from the start and will not change their minds. Other couples are flexible, and some do not have any idea what they want and need advice and encouragement to have what they want for their special day.
Feeling Comfortable inside and out:
Wear comfortable clothing throughout the day as you may be at a fair for long periods of time. Generally, walking around a wedding fair can take time, depending on the number of suppliers exhibiting. The venue where the fair is held may be on several floors and have steps and slopes, so make sure you have comfortable and suitable footwear. We do not want any trip hazards and incidents to spoil your day. Experiencing a wedding fair is meant to be a fun experience, not a dangerous one!
Jot Down those Ideas:
Bring a notepad and pen. If you find it easier, bring these items along to jot down the points you want to ask and the answers from the suppliers. You don’t have to remember it all!
Most wedding fairs, especially those run by Vows & Views Wedding Fairs, will have goodie bags that are jam-packed with leaflets and information from the exhibiting suppliers and those who cannot make it but have paid to advertise. Sometimes there are freebies, and some fairs have pens and paper available, but just in case, it is always best to bring your supplies and come prepared.
Prepare to be Contactable afterwards:
Most Wedding Fairs will ask you to provide your contact details. The suppliers who are exhibiting will need your contact details to get the information you have requested to you, especially if they do not have it on hand immediately.
Some couples opt for setting up a separate email account just for their wedding so that suppliers can email them, and it is all in one place without getting mixed up with general day-to-day emails.
Most wedding fairs will ask for your contact details to keep in touch with you and inform you about other fairs they are holding that may be of interest. Feedback forms are also a good way to give your contact details. At the same time, you can let the organizers know what worked at the fair and what didn’t and which exhibitors helped you with what you wanted.
Enjoy your Day:
Most importantly, enjoy yourself. Wedding fairs are there to be enjoyed. They are there to inform you of the wonderful suppliers in your area who can help you with your big day. We are there to let you know that when it comes to planning a wedding, you are not alone, and we are there to help you every step of the way.
Weddings should be a happy experience, and at Vows & Views Wedding Fairs, we aim to start off your planning for a successful event by making your visit to our wedding fair the best time you could possibly have.
