Sharon Bates (Janman) – Owner of Something Special Florists
Sharon Bates (Janman) is the latest stallholder to exhibit at My Special Event and The Vintage Tea Birds upcoming Wedding and Events Fayre.
From Planting a Seed to Growing a Flower
Sharon has been a florist for all of her life. She left school in 1985, aged just 16 years old, and started an apprenticeship in a florists in Littlehampton. For over 10 years Sharon worked at this florists, leaving to have her family but never leaving her passion for all things floristry. Sharon continued whilst raising a family to make wedding flowers for her family and friends from her home.
Sharon started working in a local florist once her family had grown but in her spare time she continued to grow her own Wedding Flower Business with the idea of “branching out”!
Something to Offer to Brides & Grooms to Be
Sharon has been building up her business and will be making her debut at our Wedding and Events Fayre. This will give her the opportunity to speak to potential new clients about their needs and requirements. Sharon will be able to tell clients about the experience and knowledge she already has, being in the flower industry for over 30 years!
Sharon can offer fresh and artificial flowers and will be bringing some examples of her work. She will be on hand to take orders from clients for wedding flowers and discuss what they would like for their “special day”.
Wedding Flowers – Where do I start?
Compiling a list of what wedding flowers you may need for your upcoming wedding can be a little daunting to some brides. Depending on the scale of your event, and how much or how little you need when it comes to flowers, Sharon of Something Special is there to guide brides in the right direction and maybe suggest things they haven’t thought of. A rough list of what you would like is always helpful to a florist when you have a consultation.
Most brides & grooms compile a list of the following flowers they may need:
- Bridal bouquet
- Bridesmaids bouquets
- Any flower crowns or hair flowers
- The flowers for the flower girls
- The groom’s buttonhole
- Corsages or buttonholes for the mothers
- Groomsmen buttonholes
- Buttonholes for the fathers
- The church or ceremony flowers
- Pew ends
- Flowers for the cake
- Reception flowers
- Table centres
- Thank you bouquets
List compiled by Guides for Brides which is a website offering fantastic advice to Brides and Grooms to be. However, you cannot beat meeting the person who is providing the service face to face and Sharon will offer that personal touch and reassurance every bride needs.
